Creativity Resources
I help artists and high-performing creative teams explore the complexities of wellbeing, happiness, and the creative process
My passion for mastery and excellence began with high caliber competitive marching percussion and live music performance. As I was building these skills I was also building a deep connection with the outdoors by working with children at outdoor schools in California’s Redwood forests. These passions merged into a wider interest in how people develop into their best selves within their own natural environments. By first exploring how I personally overcame a myriad of challenges in my youth, I began to systematically explore how people develop towards excellence at every stage of life, from the womb to the tomb.
This led me to earn a B.A. from UCLA in Applied Developmental Psychology and a Master’s degree from Claremont Graduate University in Positive Developmental Psychology where I focussed on creativity, mastery, and wellbeing under the Positive Psychology legend Dr. Mihalyi Csikszentmihalyi. I’ve become certified in Positive Psychology and Wellbeing Coaching from the College of Executive Coaching, and I’ve worked as an experiential educator and outdoor adventure guide for over 10 years.
After working with infants, toddlers, children, teens, young adults, and mature professionals I began to recognize the underlying foundations necessary to develop in an “upward spiral” of perpetual positive growth. I use these experiences to help my clients develop the skills of creative wellbeing by giving them the tools, information, and support they need for success in all realms of work, love, and play based on in-depth scientific scrutiny and rich personal experiences .
A comprehensive roadmap for understanding how creativity and identity develop together across the lifespan.
Drawing from personal and professional creative experiences as well as contemporary research in creativity psychology, positive psychology, and developmental science, this book presents a unique model that helps readers explore where they are in their own creative journey and how to move forward with greater clarity, purpose, and confidence.
Each chapter blends research-supported insights with reflective prompts and practical action steps designed to help readers deepen self-awareness, strengthen creative habits, and navigate challenges such as self-doubt, burnout, or creative blocks.
This book is written for artists, educators, therapists, coaches, students, entrepreneurs, arts-practitioners, and anyone seeking to understand their creative lives more fully.
Published in the peer-reviewed academic journal Frontiers in Psychology, this article introduces the term “Creative Flourishing” to the scientific literature.
Defined as the experiential confluence of Creative Agency (one's drive to create), Creative Self-Efficacy (belief in one's creative ability), and Flow Proneness (the tendency to experience flow during creative activities) within an appropriate and responsive environment. When an individual experiences each of these aspects together they can assert that they are driven to create, they feel they have the ability to be creative, and they enjoy creating. Thus, Creative Flourishing is the result of the harmonious alignment of one's creative desires, self-perception of skills, and experiences within their context.
This paper synthesizes existing literature to define Creative Flourishing, reviews intervention strategies aimed at cultivating awareness of its components, and discusses potential measures for assessing growth in these areas.
